Firstpointe School of Dance
These Terms & Conditions govern enrolment and participation at Firstpointe School of Dance ("the School"). By enrolling, students and parents/guardians agree to the following policies.
1. Enrolment Policy
- All students must register through the School’s enrolment form prior to attending their first class in any dance style.
- Fees are payable upon enrolment and before the start of each term.
- A one-time registration fee of $50 applies to all new enrolments. Students who confirm their enrolment within 7 days from their trial day will have this fee waived.
- A late fee of $50 may apply to all accounts overdue.
- A refundable fee deposit of $150 is required for new enrolments. The deposit is refundable with one month’s written notice during an active term; otherwise, it will be forfeited.
- Students are responsible for all fees related to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, extra coaching classes, and other related costs.
- A tax invoice will be issued at least one week before each term or upon enrolment.
- Fees are neither refundable nor transferable between students or terms except in cases of serious illness requiring hospitalisation or physical injuries.
2. Academy Term
- 1st Term: January to March
- 2nd Term: April to June
- 3rd Term: July to September
- 4th Term: October to December
Each term comprises 11 weeks. Term breaks follow local school holidays. Classes will not be conducted on public holidays, or other ballet activities such as school concerts and dance workshops. Such classes will not be replaced. Updated schedules will be posted regularly on the School’s website and noticeboard.
3. School Regulations
Class Scheduling
- Class schedules are determined by the School and may be combined, transferred, or dissolved as necessary.
- When a student advances to a higher level after an examination, class duration and frequency may be extended.
Attendance
- Regular attendance is required to ensure consistent progress.
- Teachers or office staff must be informed of any absence.
- Students deemed unfit for ballet examinations may be required to attend extra coaching classes or remain at the same level for an additional year.
Cancellation of Class
- If a class is cancelled by the School, students will be offered an alternative class, a rescheduled session, or additional time in existing classes to compensate.
- The School reserves the right to cancel classes with no replacement or fee refund, including in situations such as public health concerns, haze, or other circumstances beyond the School’s control.
Withdrawal & Termination
- Enrolment continues from term to term unless written notice of withdrawal is provided.
- A full calendar month’s written notice is required during an active term.
- Withdrawn students will not be eligible for ongoing promotions for 12 months from the withdrawal date.
- Withdrawn students are not entitled to make-up lessons. Any outstanding balance at the point of withdrawal will be forfeited.
Classroom Regulations
- Students must be punctual and appropriately dressed in correct studio uniform and footwear.
- Female students must wear their hair in a bun with a hairnet and U-pins for every ballet class; short hair must be secured with a soft headband. Male students must keep hair off the face.
- The School must be informed of medical conditions or injuries.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the studio, except for plain water
- Parents are not permitted to observe classes except during Open House.
Class Policies
- Term classes may be cancelled if fewer than 3 students enrol.
- Teachers will recommend the appropriate class level based on assessment.
- Classes will follow their grade schedule for RAD/CSTD exams; days and times may change accordingly.
- Students taking RAD exams are required to enrol in and attend two regular weekly classes to prepare adequately for their examinations. Make-up lessons cannot be used to fulfil this requirement. Make-up classes are provided only for occasional absences (e.g., illness or travel) and cannot substitute for one of the required weekly classes. Students who do not meet this attendance requirement may be deemed unfit for the examination and will not be entered.
Make-up Lesson Policies
- Make-up lessons are offered to students who occasionally miss class due to valid reasons.
- They must be arranged with the office staff in advance, are subject to class availability, and must be completed within 6 months.
- Make-up classes are provided for occasional absences. They cannot be used as a substitute for regular weekly classes.
4. RAD Examination Policy
- Primary to Grade 1 Transition: Students moving from Primary to Grade 1 must take the RAD Examination with a minimum of 6 months of coaching classes (Terms 4 and 1) leading up to the exam.
- From Grade 1 onwards, students must attend two classes per week for the full year of training.
- Participation in examinations is subject to review by the Artistic Director. The School reserves the right not to enter student(s) for an exam if they are deemed not ready.
- Students are required to bear the examination fee, which is payable in addition to regular tuition and coaching class fees.
5. Refund Policy
- No refunds, discounts, or credits are given for missed classes for any reason.
- If a student transfers to another class (subject to vacancy), fees will be adjusted accordingly. If the student ceases classes altogether, attended classes will be charged at the full fee rate.
- In the event of a pandemic, public health concern, or government-ordered closure requiring online classes, no refunds will be provided. Make-up options may be offered within the next term where possible.
6. Communication & Noticeboard
- Parents and students are responsible for regularly checking the School’s website and noticeboard for updates.
- Primary communication will be via phone/WhatsApp during regular office hours and email (with consent). Save the School’s contact number to receive WhatsApp broadcasts.
- The School will not share personal information without consent and complies with the Singapore PDPA guidelines.
7. Costume & Concert Policy
- Costume deposits are required for participation in events requiring costumes (e.g., public performances, annual performances). Costumes will not be provided without the required deposit.
- All costumes are designed and approved by the School; related fees are the responsibility of parents/students.
- Participation in the annual performance is strongly encouraged but not compulsory.
- Full attendance at all rehearsals is advised.
8. Consent & Liability
- Members (or parents/guardians) must promptly inform the School of any injuries, medical conditions, or illnesses that may affect participation.
- A doctor’s letter may be required before returning to training after an injury.
- The School is not liable for injuries sustained during classes, rehearsals, or performances.
- All medical fees or expenses arising from injuries during activities are the responsibility of the member or their parent/guardian. The School does not provide reimbursement for any medical costs.
9. Ballet Attire & Grooming
- All students must wear the specified Firstpointe uniform for their class level. Other leotards are not allowed.
- Students must appear neat and tidy during class to reflect positively on themselves and the School.
- Girls: Hair must be in a neat bun, either high or low.
- Boys: Hair must be styled away from the face.
10. Valuables
- Students are advised not to bring valuables or large amounts of cash. The School is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
11. Photography, Video & Choreography Copyright
- Permission from teachers and all involved parties is required before photographing or videoing classes.
- Recordings or photos are for personal use only and must not be uploaded to social media or sold.
- All choreography, including stage, costume, and lighting designs, is the intellectual property of the School and may not be reproduced or performed without written consent.
12. Friends of Firstpointe (FFP) Membership
- Firstpointe students are entitled to 10% off selected dancewear and accessories.
- Benefits may change without prior notice.
- Membership is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credits.
- Membership is cancelled when a student ceases to be enrolled at Firstpointe.
13. PDPA policy
We follow the standard PDPA policy to govern our client’s data and we do not share any data to outsider / 3rd party not related to firstpointe.
